Years of challenges and development

2009
In October 2009 we released the 2Amp function in the SafeLED IQ light family. The SafeLED 2Amp concept provides features that have never been seen before. With remarkable power savings and strongly increased flexibility, the SafeLED 2Amp concept gives both economical and environmental benefits in airfield lightning, regardless if it is a new or existing installation.

At the Interairport exhibition in October 2009 Safegate Group presented SafeBeacon, a new concept for a safer and more efficient runway. If an aircraft crosses the stop bar without clearance, SafeBeacon will immediately send out an alarm that breaks through all other communication channels, instructing the pilot to halt and preventing a runway incursion.

In mid 2009 our staff in Malmö, Sweden moved in to a new Research Centre and office facility. It is a modern office space containing both indoor and outdoor product testing areas, training rooms and logistics centre. A unique feature of the building is the mini runway and taxiway system that exactly mimics a real system at an operative airport (approximately 100 meters long). With this modern building our engineers and customers are able to both see and test the equipment in the real environment without having to leave the building.

2008
In late 2008 Safegate Group acquired Idman Airfiled Lightning (Idman AFL). When Idman joined us at Safegate Group we took one more step to increase safety and efficiency at airports around the world. With a complete range of AFL products and services we are now even better prepared to provide value to our customers.

With the addition of Thorn AFL and Idman AFL, Safegate Group is a truly global company with sales forces in Sweden, Finland, UK, Germany, France, Spain, Russia, UAE, Qatar, Australia, Singapore, China and the US.

2007
In late 2007 we released SafeLED IQ, a new generation of addressable airfield lightning. SafeLED IQ is an all-in-one revolution that gives a safe and efficient application. It is an advanced lamp fitting built in one solid, well-designed piece, including all the intelligence you could wish for. With SafeLED IQ you can monitor and control LED applications ensuring high availability and great cost efficiency.

2006
In November 2006 Safegate Group completed the acquisition of Thorn Airfield Lightning (Thorn AFL). Hereby we took another step to increase safety and efficiency at airports around the world.

2005
In 2005 Safegate Group´s new docking guidance system T1 was presented. Safedock T1 was able to dock all aircraft with a precision of 10 cm, even a 73 meter Airbus!

2004
Late 2004 Safegate Group took another step to increase airport safety and efficiency through the acquisition of the company Airfield Signs. These new products were an exciting complement to Safegate Group’s existing range of airfield lightning products together with both ASP-SC and SafeControl.

2003
Early 2003 the Safegate Group acquired the product SafeControl, which was an important step in marketing the ASP product portfolio.

1973
Safegate Group was founded 1973, in Malmö, Sweden, as a developer of passenger boarding bridges. Soon we realised our strength was the docking guidance system (DGS) that we supplied together with the bridges.

As air traffic increased, so did the requirements for safer and more effective movements on the ground. To meet the new demands Safegate Group started to develop a control system, the ASP-SC, in the late eighties. The specific aim of the ASP-SC system was to enable selective taxiway guidance from runway to stand and vice versa. With the introduction of the ASP-SC in the early nineties Safegate Group was the first company that could offer a complete system for guidance of an aircraft from the touch down to its stop position at the boarding bridge.
