George Bush Intercontinental

George Bush Intercontinental chose ASP-SafeControl because of universal compatibility.
Safegate Group’s ASP-SafeControl solution has been installed as part of the runway guard light project at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas. This project is a key component of Houston’s strategy to prevent runway incursions that can endanger aircraft and ground vehicles. The contractor for the runway guard light project selected Safegate Group’s ASP-SafeControl system, largely because of its nearly universal compatibility with their own components such as regulators, light fixtures and the control system. Equally important was the successful track record of the ASP-SafeControl system at dozens of airports around the world under all kinds of airfield conditions.

Ideal for in-pavement runway guard lights
The patented communication technique and highly developed software solution represent the core of a very versatile, reliable and responsive system which is ideal for in-pavement runway guard light systems. One of the unique properties of the ASP-SafeControl system is the airport’s ability to make changes to the system even after it is installed. Changes could include adding on to the system or changes in functionality, such as converting a runway guard light system into a stop bar. Since the first commercial installation of an ASP-SafeControl system in 1995, a great deal of emphasis has been placed on developing better tools for self-maintainability.

Complete compliance with FAA

The Houston Airport retained Consultant Services International to do the system testing to ensure complete compliance with FAA and customer requirements. CSI’s principal, Jess Nadel, was impressed to find that, as he put it, “the setup and commissioning was fast and problem free.”
Additional airports including San Jose, Spokane and Manchester also got the ASP-SafeControl runway guard light system installed under a sub-supplier agreement similar to the Houston deal.
